It’s here, and now it’s gone. I told my boyfriend on the way home, “It’s like Christmas”. You wait all year for your favorite weekend and you try as much as you can to capture and revel in it all, but before you know it, the magic is gone and the fun is over. Thanks to some pics, videos, and memories, Coachella can only live on in our hearts (and the World Wide Web). But fortunately, they’ve added a second weekend in recent years so the fun doesn’t have to stop! Below were my favorite highlights from the weekend in Indio, California.
As much as I’m interested in covering the events like Calvin Klein and Neon Carnival, DJ’d by Alesso and Ruckus respectively, these features are n0t available for weekend 2, so I will let these simply live on in blissful memory.
Here are my Weekend 1 highlights:
Ellie Goulding (Coachella stage) – enough said. She delivers just as you would expect her to.
Jack Ü *Diplo and Skrillex* (Outdoor stage) – I didn’t even know Jack Ü was a thing until we were jamming in front of the stage. The boys that brought you Beiber’s track ‘Where Are Ü Now’ brought the sexy with this act that was my favorite. Plus we danced next to Katy Perry smoking a chill one, so this was my favorite of the day.
Disclosure (Coachella stage) – I mean, Disclosure is always the best. Can’t miss this act.
Ice Cube (Coachella stage) – Who doesn’t love a classic hip hop act? Ice Cube always brings the power and energy, then this one popped by….
the 1975 (Coachella stage) – What’s the point of a music festival if you don’t discover some new sounds along the way? the 1975 summed up what I envision to be the sounds of Coachella; beautiful vocals, guitars, that tousled yet still sexy desert look (even though they are an English alternative rock band from Cheshire). They were excellent to chill out to.
the Chainsmokers (Sahara) – As personal friends of the guys, this was the most incredible experience of Coachella. We all jumped backstage to support our wonderful friends and talented musicians. They were electrifying. With an appearance by Third Eye Blind, your young and modern self are completely fulfilled.
Calvin Harris (Coachella stage) – He was the headliner and did not disappoint. Plus, as you have probably seen from Instagram, our lovely RiRi jumped on stage to dazzle us with her amazingness.
If you haven’t been to Coachella, you can still make it. Jump on the back of someone’s car and take off into the desert. Sure, everyone is covered in flowy maxi’s, hats, and looks just wayyy too cool, but there is a magical energy that makes Coachella the greatest. No matter what you are wearing, you can feel it.
